ON THE RECORD
(in progess, be patient)

It is early April, 2026, as I put this page together. There will be repeats of works previously posted in earlier pages and I may begin to use this as a diary, recording ongoing concerns and how I react/express/create to and about them. But the time seems right to declare that the horrors we're currently witnessing as our country's values, laws, and very foundation are being destroyed, as an artist and attentive citizen and wannabe activist, I'm compelled to (at least) respond. My negative opinion of our current president and his policies have a long history.

  It's no surprise.

January 8, 1992

My journals date back to the 1980s, and I've recently begun to reread them. It's not surprising, since my "mature" creative work has revealed its purpose -- MY purpose as an artist -- to be paying attention, that our current president has quite a history in my thoughts and words. For starters, here's an except from one of earlier journals.

The lesson presented here is still useful, and I've continued to keep my lists for nearly 30 years. But there's an interesting moment around minute #6, so if you'd rather not watch the entire thing, skip ahead.

2016
I TOLD YOU SO!

When DJT was elected president in 2013, I used the four most dreaded words to express my feelings about the election. Never forget that the popular vote went to his opponent, Hillary Clinton. There are two versions on Facebook: the earlier one with terrible background noise trying to share Macy Gray's "You Are Relating to a Psychopath", and the later one (below my "lyrics") with no sound track. I am obviously too old and too low-tech to achieve many goals, so I leave it to you to figure it out!

DON'T BLAME ME (lyrics)
copyright 2016 by Becky Hendrick

Narcissitic, xenophobic, racist, sexist thug,
Gliding down the golden escalator, looking smug
Enough to take down our whole'God-blessed democracy.

Hot, he wants to be,
But pussy-grabbing proves he ain't,
And with wives galore, one naked.
He's no blessed saint or popular, nope,
Those electors snared his slot, whoopie.

You fools you, you voted for a psychopath,
The orange one sure needs therapy
Because he's so far gone,
You fell for a real psychopath.

Lying, cheating, Cheeto-colored hating Psycho-scum,
No silver spoon, he'd be just one more slick well-suited bum,
His teensy baby fingers tweeting all night,
He's so bad.

All the brown folks, Mexican, Muslims, imports, trannies, gays,
And women preggers barefoot just like in the good old days,
Unless you you're one of one percent, thanks,
We've all been had.

You went and voted for a psychopath,
This con-man sure needs therapy
Because he's real far gone.

Democracy did go - oh - oh...
And when it runs out will we start crying
NO! NYET! NYET! NO!

Uno! Dos! Tres! Quatro!

Wise old elders said third party or green won't work so
Now we get to say we told you so, we told you so,
Your bigly ideas got trumped and dumped
So bad.
Yeah.

You fools you voted for a psychopath,
Ego - in - chief sure needs therapy because he's real far gone,
You elected a true psychopath.
Oh, a psy - cho - path...

Don't blame me: I voted HRC.
Don't blame me: I voted HRC.
